Step into the legacy of Bernard Shaw, whose orchard was the apple of his eye and join us for this special garden opening to celebrate the season. Whether you’re an apple enthusiast, an orchard owner, or simply looking for a delightful family day out, there’s something for everyone.
Event highlights:
• Tastings: savour samples from over 20 heritage apple varieties grown in Shaw’s historic orchard. You might just discover a new favourite! Plus, purchase your picks to take home
• Expert sessions: hat with Senior Gardener Matt at his stall to uncover the secrets of Shaw’s historic garden and get expert advice on orchard care - packed with juicy tips to help your own orchard thrive.
• Tours: Join our knowledgeable volunteers every 30 minutes for a guided tour exploring the history and heritage of the orchard.
• Apple identification: ever wondered what variety is growing in your garden? Learn the tricks of the trade to identify apples like a pro.
• Apple I-spy: children can join the fun with games for all ages
• Apple-themed treats: indulge in freshly baked, apple-inspired refreshments that capture flavours of autumn
• Take home a memory: from books to cuddly Jellycat apples, find the perfect souvenir to remember your visit.
Sunday 5 October, drop in between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

- Standard admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- Free parking must be booked in advance, but if you’re arriving on foot, just drop in!
- Head to the kiosk for entry.
- This event is outdoors only so please wear clothing suitable for the weather.
- Surfaced path. Mobility scooter is available to hire. Accessible toilet available.
- Children are very welcome!
