Sketching for the Terrified

Join us at Sutton Hoo for an art workshop with a difference: this is for those who fear that they can’t draw, but who’ve always wanted to have a go!

Join us for an opportunity to explore the natural landscape of Sutton Hoo through a range of ‘quick-sketch’ activities that focus on the vibe and the emotional response you have to your visit rather than trying to create fancy or ‘gallery-worthy’ art.

Join our Arts and Crafts volunteers who will lead you through an informal and relaxing session undertaking a variety of quick sketches and fun little tasks/activities that will have you looking at and responding to the landscape in very different ways and having a lot of fun to boot!

This workshop is free with site admission. All resources will be provided, and you can take your sketches away with you at the end of the workshop.

Please note:

  • Standard admissions charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • After seeing the Visitor Welcome team for your admission, meet in the courtyard by the ship sculpture.
  • This is an outdoor workshop, so please wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and walking on rough terrain.
  • Due to uneven ground this workshop is not wheelchair or walking stick friendly.
  • This tour is most suitable for adults and children aged 12 and above. Children must be supervised at all times.
