British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreted Bateman's House Tour 2025

Join an expert guide and a BSL interpreter on a small group tour of Bateman's.

Led by an experienced volunteer guide, this small group tour will take you through the history of the Kipling family at Bateman's.

Bateman's was the family home of world-famous writer Rudyard Kipling, known for The Jungle Book and Just So Stories. Built in 1634, this Jacobean house is in the Sussex countryside.

This tour offers access to the house and its collection with simultaneous BSL interpretation.

The tour will last approximately 1 hour, and we welcome those both Deaf and hearing to join.

Tours on Wednesday 16 April, Friday 18 July and Monday 13 October | 2pm to 3pm | Free | Booking required | Max 8 people.

  • Standard admissions charges apply to non-members on arrival. 
  • Please head to the Visitor Reception on arrival with your booking details to collect your tickets.
  • This is an indoor event. Please wear clothing suitable for the weather.
