History walk: A short history of Longshaw

Join us for a short walk and talk, taking you on a journey  through time at Longshaw.

Join our friendly guides on a short walk to some of Longshaw's fascinating archaeological features. Discover Longshaw's story from the Iron Age to the present day, including evidence of Medieval farming and the Victorian technology which forms some of Longshaw's most iconic features today.

2 miles/3km, no steps or stiles. There will be plenty of stops to look at features.

Please note:

  • Meet at the Welcome Building, adjacent to Woodcroft car park. The walk will finish at Longshaw Café.
  • Wear sturdy outdoor shoes and outdoor clothing suitable for the weather.
  • The route is about 2 miles/3km, with no steps or stiles. There are some gradual inclines and rocky areas of the path.
  • Dogs on short leads are welcome and must be kept on lead for the duration of the walk.
  • This event is aimed at adults, but accompanied children over 8 years old are welcome.
