Branscombe Heritage Guided Walk

A free, 1km guided walk through part of the beautiful village of Branscombe. A fascinating journey through time, exploring the village’s rich history, including tales of ghosts, ancient sarcophagi, and smuggling.

Join a fascinating journey through time that brings the heritage of Branscombe village to life. Explore the village’s rich history, including tales of ghosts, ancient sarcophagi, and smuggling and trades that once filled the bustling village streets. The route will also highlight the stunning natural features that make Branscombe one of the most picturesque villages in Devon.

The guided route starts at the Sea Shanty Café on Branscombe Beach and meanders along the valley, taking in some true rarities such as a thatched forge and a working watermill along the way. 

A mostly level walk with short sections of slight uphill and downhill gradients. The walk will follow gravel-surfaced footpath and pass through fields with uneven grassy ground underfoot.

  • Please meet outside the Sea Shanty Café on Branscombe beach, EX12 3DP.
  • Please wear sturdy footwear and suitable clothing for the weather.
  • A mostly level 1km walk with short sections of slight uphill and downhill gradients. The walk will follow gravel-surfaced footpath and pass through fields with uneven grassy ground underfoot.
  • Children welcome. Recommended age 12 years +.
  • Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
  • Parking is available in the Branscombe Beach car park. This is NOT a National Trust car park. Please be aware that a strict payment system is in place.
