Ilam Park: Guided Walk: Family Adventures Walk
Join us on an adventure through the white peak, take up the challenge to climb up the hill to Throwley and discover the ruins. Along the way create a nature frame and keep spotting incredible views and special sites!
Join us for a captivating adventure as part of the Staffordshire Moorlands Festival of Walking.
Follow our walk leader from Ilam Park across the rolling fields and challenge yourself up the hill to visit the ruins of Throwley Old Hall.
Along our route, we'll encourage families to connect with the natural world in a creative and engaging way. Crafting our own "nature frames" with cardboard and decorating them with found treasures – fallen leaves, twigs and vibrant wildflowers along the way. These frames will serve as unique perspectives through which we will view and snap photos of the beautiful views you spot along the route.
Keep your eyes peeled throughout our walk, as the White Peak is brimming with incredible views and special sites. The highlight of our adventure awaits as we reach the summit of Throwley hill and discover its ruins. Imagine the stories these weathered stones could tell!
So, pack your sense of adventure, your curiosity, and get ready to explore, discover, and connect!
We grade our guided walks A, B or C depending on how challenging the walk will be. This walk is graded B - a medium walk with some hilly terrain. Voucher is included for 10% off at Ilam Tea Room and free car parking redeemable on the day of the walk. This event, like all our events is open to members of the National Trust and non-members. All money raised goes straight back into looking after the White Peak.
