Tales from the Library: The Fall of the House of Usher
This Halloween, NeuNoir theatre presents Edgar Allan Poe’s iconic tale of terror, The Fall Of The House Of Usher.
Summoned by a childhood friend, a visitor arrives at the crumbling House of Usher. There he discovers the pallid and sickly Roderick Usher, the last of his family line, consumed by fear and afflicted by a mysterious illness that seems to eerily mirror his dark, dank and decaying surroundings...
Published in 1839, Poe’s claustrophobic tale was an instant sensation. A richly layered and atmospheric Gothic masterpiece featuring a supremely creepy house, the increasingly tense story explores themes of friendship and family, as well as madness, isolation, despair and ultimately death.
An atmospheric reading of Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Fall of the House of Usher', bought to Greyfriars library by NeuNoir theatre.
Tickets can be booked online or from Greyfriars visitor reception at no.14 Friar Street.
£15.00 per person.
31st October at 18.00 (doors open at 17.30).
The performance will be held upstairs in the library, access is via a steep staircase.
