Common Ground: Nature Inspired Creative Workshops at Battersea Arts Centre
Join us for free monthly, nature focussed workshops inspired by 575 Wandsworth Road's garden.
Take part in Common Ground — this year’s nature-inspired community arts programme, inspired by the garden and hand-carved wooden interiors of 575 Wandsworth Road.
Join artist Roopa Basu for a printmaking workshop celebrating South Asian Heritage Month and the rich tradition of South Asian block printing. Explore the craft of creating patterns with wooden blocks, and taking inspiration from the nature-inspired fretwork at 575 Wandsworth Road to create your own blocks and print on fabric. (Don’t forget to bring your own clothing, or notebooks or fabric to personalise!)
You'll also discover the cultural roots of the Shamiyana, a vibrant decorative canopy symbolising celebration and community—and help co-create a Shamiyana installation: a collaborative, colourful centrepiece that will travel to local venues.
Common Ground is part of 575 Ways to Create and Connect, a programme designed to spark creativity and connection across all ages. Whether you join for one session or many, you’ll find a welcoming space to create, connect, and grow.
Please note:
- Meet in the foyer at Battersea Arts Centre, Lavender Hill, London SW11 5TN
- Battersea Arts Centre is committed to offering accessible spaces and has step free access, lifts, and chillout rooms. For more information please visit https://bac.org.uk/access/
- Suitable for adults.
