Watch part 3 of the Time Team Sutton Hoo dig series on the big screen at the Riverside Theatre, Woodbridge. In episode 3 the Dig reaches an exciting climax in the middle of a heatwave as they discover the source of the big metal detecting signal. Tony explores some of the more extraordinary medieval execution burials found in the Royal Burial Ground. The program focusses on some of the developments in Anglo-Saxon craftsmanship as Hilde meets the Sutton Hoo Textiles group who are using experimental archaeology to recreate some sumptuous Anglo-Saxon textiles and the man who recreated the Bromeswell Bucket explains how it nearly hospitalised him.
The film is followed by a discussion panel and Q & A with Time Team presenters Helen Geake (small finds specialist and Anglo-Saxon expert) and Matt Williams (Field Archaeologist) alongside Professor Martin Carver (Emeritus Professor of Archaeology at the University of York), Madeleine Hummler (Archaeologist and Prehistorian) and National Trust Regional Archaeologist Angus Wainwright.
Doors open at 6.30pm ready for the film to start at 7pm.
The nearest car park is at Woodbridge train station, next door to the venue. Parking is free from 6pm.
