Introduction to Spinning Workshop
Have a go at some heritage crafts with this half-day spinning workshop. A hands-on experience perfect for beginners and craft enthusiasts alike.
Try something new and have a go at spinning in this half a day workshop led by spinning expert, Diane Fisher.
Diane Fisher is a handspinner, craft demonstrator and spinning tutor with over 20 years experience working with wool and many other fibres. She regularly teaches spinning workshops around Derbyshire and surrounding areas and can often be seen at shows demonstrating on an antique Great Wheel.
During your workshop, learn how to:
- Spin yarn using a drop spindle on washed and prepared wool.
- Opportunity to learn how to use other techniques such as the bogway handspinners or on a spinning wheel.
This workshop includes a hot drink (hot chocolate, tea, or filter coffee) from the cafe kiosk. At the end of the workshop, we hope you will have the confidence to be able to spin yarn using a drop spindle. Participants are welcome to take home any yarn produced.

Please note:
- Standard admissions charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- Please meet at the Park Centre, next to the Hardwick Ponds. There is a separate car park for this location. Please do not park in the main Hardwick Car Park.
- A hot drink is included, but please bring any snacks you may need throughout the day.
- There is an accessible toilet and parking close to the Park Centre. This workshop take place on the ground floor with a small step to get into the workshop room.
- Suitable for children aged 14 or over.
