Cogden Beach - a free guided walk through historic landscape with WW11 defences

Take a guided walk around Cogden with our National Trust archaeologists and learn about key historical events of the area.

The walk is approximately 2km but expect to take around 90-120 minutes. There are some uphill climbs  but otherwise this is a relatively simple walk.

Our National Trust archaeology volunteers will show you important landmarks linked to WW2 but will also discuss significant points of interest.

We hope to cover around 4000 years of history in a short period of time by discussing things we can see in the landscape.

Please note:

  • Meet at the lower point of Cogden car park near the picnic tables.
  • Wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes with an excellent grip. If the weather has been wet please ensure your shoes are waterproof.
  • This is a rural, coastal walk with some sections off footpath. The areas could be very muddy and wet if there has been some rainfall prior to the event.
  • It is up to the adult supervising the child to determine if they can manage the walk. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • This walk departs from Cogden Beach and not Hive Beach.
