Art in the landscape workshop, Woolacombe
Join local landscape painter Steve Pleydell-Pearce for a day of Art in the Landscape - learn sketching and painting techniques while exploring and taking inspiration from our ongoing nature restoration work around Woolacombe.
Join local landscape painter Steve Pleydell-Pearce for Art in the Landscape - a creative day of sketching and painting inspired by nature and the vital restoration work happening across North Devon.
We’ll begin at Marine Drive with a gentle walk through the dunes, stopping along the way to learn quick sketching techniques using just a biro or pencil, ideal for capturing what you see, wherever you are. As we walk, you'll hear about the habitat management work in the dunes, including efforts to support the rare brown-banded carder bee.
After a break for a long lunch (please bring your own), we’ll head to Seymour for an afternoon of close-up wildflower studies. Guided by Steve, you’ll create your own gouache landscape painting (that’s opaque watercolour) inspired by the surrounding meadows and the exciting rewetting and water vole reintroduction projects that will be taking place here.
All materials are provided, including your own sketchbook to take home. Please dress for the weather and wear clothing suitable for walking and creativity, you might get a little messy!
Booking essential, £25 per ticket.
This day will include driving between the two sites, if you are arriving on foot or would need a lift between the two sites please email northdevon@nationaltrust.org.uk.
Please note:
- Please meet by the Welcome Hut on Marine Drive. Parking is free for NT members.
- Please bring plenty of food/water for the day and clothing/shoes suitable for walking and creativity, you may get a little messy.
- The day involved walking over sandy and uneven ground in places.
- Suitable for ages 18+.
