'Miniature Masquerades' - a talk by Emma Rutherford

This talk on portrait miniatures by Emma Rutherford, Miniatures Specialist from The Limner Company, compliments the Dress to Impress exhibition and our collection of portrait miniatures.

Emma Rutherford runs The Limner Company, a group of specialists who research and sell portrait miniatures. She also works as Honorary Advisor on Portrait Miniatures to the National Trust. Her talk will reveal the secrets that portrait miniatures hold and how they were worn with some of the opulent costumes on display in the current exhibition.

Please note:

  • Standard admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • Meet in the Gold Room, the main salon in the mansion.
  • The house can be cold, so please dress appropriately.
  • A volunteer-run shuttle bus service runs from the visitor welcome area to the house entrance, subject to availability. The entrance to the house is step-free and wheelchair accessible. Toilet facilities (including an accessible toilet and changing facilities) are available on site.
  • This talk is mostly aimed at adults, but children are welcome.
  • No dogs allowed inside the house except for assistance dogs.
  • Please bring proof of tickets on the day.
  • The café will be open serving light refreshments
