A summer night of music and conversation. Telling the story of Leith Hill Place and Ralph Vaughan Williams in the Second World War, and charting the role music played in the conflict and liberation.
Royal biographer Hugo Vickers joins acclaimed flautist Lisa Friend and composer-broadcaster Jack Pepper (Magic Radio / British Airways) in conversation and concert. Vickers shares personal stories of his encounters with the Vaughan Williams circle and giving wider historical context. These are interspersed with flute and piano illustrations of RVW gems, WW2 songs and unexpected musical connections to the present day. Commemorate 80 years of freedom in the heart of the Surrey Hills - enjoy a glass of bubbly in an intimate and friendly setting, the living room of a legendary composer, sharing in fine music and stories as the sun sets.
