Family Bat Walks at Bodiam Castle
Join our National Trust Ranger for a magical evening discovering the secret world of bats at Bodiam Castle.
As dusk falls over the castle and surrounding landscape, we’ll explore the habitats these fascinating nocturnal mammals call home. Using bat detectors, you’ll be able to hear their echolocation calls and learn how to identify different species.
Perfect for families, this guided walk will reveal:
- The species of bats found around Bodiam
- How bats navigate and hunt in the dark
- Why historic sites like Bodiam Castle are so important for wildlife
- How you can help protect bats locally
Tues 18th August at 7:45pm, Tues 25th Aug at 7:30pm & September 12th at 7pm | Walk duration: Approximately one hour.

Please note:
- Meet at the main car park/Wharf Tea-room.
- This is an outdoor event so please wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear. Remember to bring a torch as we will be heading out after dark.
- This event takes places in the castle, up the castle stairs. This event is not wheelchair accessible.
- Families (recommended age 5/6+)
