Bat Walk at Bodiam Castle
Head out around the castle parkland after hours to try out a bat detector and learn more about this extraordinary nocturnal flying mammal’s world.
Join our expert Bodiam Castle rangers for a walk around the castle parkland. Learn more about the species of bat found around Bodiam Castle and hear why Bodiam is a brilliant place for bats. There will be the chance to use three different types of bat detector to get an audible glimpse into this extraordinary nocturnal flying mammal’s world. Along the walk they will highlight the special castle Gatehouse Tower, which is a maternity roost for Daubenton’s and Natterer’s bats.
This is an outdoor event so please wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear. Remember to bring a torch as we will be heading out after dark.

Please note:
- Meet at the main car park.
- This is an outdoor event so please wear clothing suitable for the weather and sturdy footwear. Bring a torch, preferably a red one.
- There are step free, gravel paths with some slopes from the car park to the castle and around the moat.
