SEND family cricket skills with Durham Cricket: Gibside Summer of Play

Have wicket fun playing sport!

Join a specially designed cricket skills session for children with special educational needs and disabilities. Bat, bowl, and field your way to success in this fun cricket skills session, where kids can learn techniques and improve their game with hands-on coaching.

These sessions are led by trained instructors from Durham Cricket, who will tailor their approach to the needs of participating children. All SEND children and their families are welcome. Two accompanying family members are welcome to join the session or watch from the side.

If there are any no-shows on the day, we may be able to welcome a few extra children to join, so it’s always worth checking in.

Please note:

  • Please meet at The Play Paradise at Green Close Field, which is a 20 minute walk from Visitor Reception.
  • SPF or raincoat - whatever the weather, there's always time to play
  • Accessible toilets in the Marketplace. There is a ramped incline from Visitor Reception to the start of the trail paths. There is a hard trail path to the Play Paradise. Activities will take place on the grass. A volunteer-led access bus may be available on the day. Please email gibside@nationaltrust.org.uk with questions.
  • Stay all day: with temporary toilet facilities, picnic spots and even a tuck shop serving cold drinks, snacks and ice creams, there’s no need to leave the Play Paradise.
  • 2 accompanying family members can enter Gibside with each ticket that is booked.
