Heritage Open Days - Studland Bay in WWII guided walk

Studland Bay is known to many as a leisure destination boasting four miles of beach, but its historical significance is often overlooked.

Discover how Britain prepared to defend it's coastline and the later shift to preparing for invasion, with a full scale rehearsal for the D-day landings called Exercise Smash. Come and talk to our knowledgeable volunteers, look at the exhibits and join a guided walk. Booking is required.

The guided walk will take place between 10am and 12pm. The walk covers dunes and heathland with mixed terrain, has a couple of steep sandy inclines and is approximately 2km. Only assistance dogs are able to be brought on the walk. Recommended minimum age 14+, under 18s supervised.

Please note:

  • The event will be held on the sandy area between the cafe and Studland Water Sports at Knoll Beach. This will also be the meeting point for the guided walk, next to the gazebos. BH193AQ
