From history to herbs, gardening in the sky with Teddy Jones (Sky Gardening Challenge)
From history to herbs, gardening in the sky for ourselves and nature with Teddy Jones (Sky Gardening Challenge).
Join our National Trust Sky Gardening Challenge Judge, Teddy Jones for an opportunity to converse, learn and connect in this talk and join in with a practical gardening workshop.
Grab a free ticket to join us, as we walk along the viaduct and hear all about the history and planting of Castlefield Viaduct. You’ll also hear about urban farming and planting for food, and take part in a herb planting workshop, followed by a Q&A session.
At the end of the session, you’ll take home your freshly planted pot, inspiration to enter the ‘One Pot Power’ Sky Gardening Challenge competition category.
Teddy is our National Trust judge, an assistant gardener at @ntcastlefieldviaduct and wildlife conservation student, who has always been fascinated by urban nature, drawing inspiration from the canals and flashes where he grew up in Wigan. Teddy has his very own balcony, which he says serves as his haven in the city.
This is a Sky Gardening Challenge event, aimed at those who live in flats and apartments with balconies or window boxes, across Greater Manchester.
Please note:
- Please meet at the entrance to Castlefield Viaduct.
- If you have them, please bring a pair of gardening gloves. If you don't that's no problem, as we will have some spare pairs.
- Castlefield Viaduct is fully accessible by ramps and a hearing loop is installed. Lift access is available from Deansgate Castlefield Metrolink Stop.
- Children welcome.
- Tickets are free and intended for balcony owners.
