Victoria from Northern Lily will share her top tips and reflections for creating a wildlife friendly balcony. Listen to an educational talk, enjoy a Q and A, and take part in a practical balcony gardening workshop.
At the end of the session, you’ll take home your plant pot, inspiration to enter the ‘One Pot Power’ Sky Gardening Challenge competition category.
Victoria is the founder of Northern Lily Community Interest Company, a social enterprise based in Oldham that promotes wildlife friendly gardening in urban areas. She believes that gardening for wildlife can benefit both people and nature, by creating habitats for birds, bees, butterflies and other animals, and by enhancing well-being, learning and community connection.
This is a Sky Gardening Challenge event, aimed at those who live in flats and apartments with balconies or window boxes, across Greater Manchester.
Please note:
- Please meet at the entrance to Castlefield Viaduct.
- Wear weather appropriate clothing.
- Castlefield Viaduct is fully accessible by ramps and a hearing loop is installed. Lift access is available from Deansgate Castlefield Metrolink Stop.
- Children Welcome.
- Tickets are free and intended for balcony owners.
- Directions : Make your way to Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop. Cross all the tram lines and turn left down the access road. There is a large sign on the wall showing the way.
