Changing Landscape Guided Walk
Join us on a guided walk around Petworth Park to discover the story of this incredible landscape.
Petworth Park has changed dramatically over the past 900 years from common land to a hunting park, then formal gardens to the naturalistic landscape we see today. You will hear about the land grab by King Henry VIII and his hunting lodge, the contested enclosure by the 8th Earl of Northumberland and the creation of the Capability Brown landscape. The story will continue through to the devasting impact of the Great Storm of 1987.
Booking essential, £5 per adult, children are free but please book as spaces are limited.
Please note:
- Meet outside the main Car Park reception, by the toilets, where your guide will meet you.
- Please dress appropriately for the weather. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
- No paved paths and includes grassy steep slopes. Please be aware this is a two hour walk in the Park so a reasonable level of fitness is required.
- Suitable for children aged 7+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
