Deep Listening at the Fen

A chance to join our volunteers as they tune in to the underwater life with hydrophones, and zoom in on birds and insects with a parabolic mic.

This activity is part of the Listen to the Voices of the Fen project.

Listen to the Voices of the Fen invites you to take time and really tune in to the sounds of our shared environment. using hydrophones we can hear sounds from underwater not normally audible to us, whether fish, invertebrates or even plants. Using a parabolic mic picks up other natural sounds bringing them much closer to us.

The Listen to the Voices of the Fen sound sculpture trail is open from 19 July to 28 September, a new way to experience the Sedge Fen walks. The project is supported with funding through National Heritage Lottery Fund Arts Council England.
