Curator's talk - 'Conserving Tintoretto, uncovering hidden histories'.
Join Property Curator Michelle Leake for a talk about conserving 'The Wise and Foolish Virgins' by the Venetian artist Jacopo Tintoretto, recently featured in series 3 of BBC Two’s Hidden Histories of the National Trust.
International collaboration and deep technical analysis revealed new insights into the history of one of Upton’s most treasured paintings. As new findings emerged, so did ever more complex questions. Michelle will delve into the secrets behind the surface painting, as you enjoy intimate access to this rare example of Tintoretto's work.
The evening starts with us welcoming you with a glass of Prosecco or non-alcoholic sparkling alternative.
Please note:
- Enter via Visitor Reception and make your way down the drive. The main house entrance is 300 m from the visitor car park immediately in front of you.
- You may wish to bring a sweater or a warmer layer if it is a cool evening.
- There is a ramped side entrance into the house. Please ask a member of the Visitor Welcome team to direct you upon entry to the property. The House and Collections team will be ready to meet you and show you into the house.
- Children over 16 years of age are welcome accompanied by a parent/adult guardian.
- Please be at the main house entrance by 5pm.
