Axe throwing with BOutdoors: Gibside Summer of Play
Channel your inner warrior with family-friendly axe throwing. Ready to test your aim? Step up, take a deep breath, and hurl your axe!
Like the Vikings of Northumbria, choose your weapon and wield your axe. Practise technique, accuracy and strength, and whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned thrower, you’ll feel the rush of excitement as your axe lands with a satisfying thud. Challenge family and friends in an axe throwing competition at the end of your session and see if you can hit the target.
Minimum age requirement 11+
Please note:
- Standard admissions charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- Make your way to Green Close Field (next to Gibside Hall) to find the Play Paradise and meet Andy from BOutdoors.At the Play Paradise, Green Close field. Visitor Reception will help direct you.
- Please wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear and ensure that arms and legs are covered. Those not dressed suitably will be unable to take part, and we’re unable to offer refunds in these cases.
- The event takes place on a grassy field. Access to the field is via a trail.
- Suitable for age 11+. Under 18s must be supervised by a responsible adult.
- Axe throwing will take place a 20-minute walk from the main entrance. Participants must meet at the session area at least 10 minutes before their session start time.
- All participants will be asked to sign a consent form at the start of the session. Tickets are £3 per participant, spectators do not need to book a place. Admission applies.
- Andy from BOutdoors will teach you the best techniques and how to stay safe, whilst you take aim and see who can hit the best shot. Participants will be in small groups and take turns during the 30-minute timeslot.
- Stay all day: with temporary toilet facilities, picnic spots and even a tuck shop serving cold drinks, snacks and ice creams, there’s no need to leave the Play Paradise.
- We’re unable to offer refunds in any circumstances.
