Women in Conservation Practical Work Party
Looking for a way to get outdoors and learn a new skill? Join our Women in Conservation Practical Work Party.
Our ranger team are welcoming all women to our Women in Conservation Practical Work Party. You don’t need any experience, just the passion to learn and pick up a pair of bowsaw and loppers. Our female ranger team will be here to guide, teach and work alongside you.
This will be a safe and unintimidating space, where you can be with like-minded people who are also interested in nature and our local environment. You'll learn about coppicing and gain experience - it's ideal for those looking to enter into the conservation sector, and for those who just want to spend a day in the woods.
In the afternoon, for those who would like to stay, we’ll go for a small walk around the site and talk about the wildlife and ecology of Sizergh.
Please note:
- Meet at Sizergh carpark, on the veranda outside the café.
- Please wear outdoor clothing, layers and supportive footwear. Bring snacks, lunch and plenty to drink. You could bring a folding chair or mat. We'll have work gloves but you can bring your own.
- From Sizergh carpark, it will be a 1km walk to our worksite. The closest toilet facilities are in the Visitor Centre. We will be walking on paths that may be muddy this time of year but accessible. The area we will be working in is quite flat, apart from coppiced stumps, mud and bramble. It is also limestone which may be slippery when wet.
- 12–18-year-olds are welcome if accompanied by a responsible female adult.
- This is a free event. Attendees will not be subject to parking charges - please show your ticket on arrival to arrange this.
