Christmas Crafts: Christmas candle book art workshop

Make a perfect eco-friendly decoration with literary charm, giving  an old book a beautiful new life this festive season.

Under friendly, expert guidance, you’ll learn how to craft an elegant Christmas candle centrepiece made entirely from the pages of a recycled book — a unique decoration or a thoughtful handmade gift. No previous experience needed — just a love of creativity, upcycling, and Christmas decor.

All materials are provided (although please bring a craft knife), along with tea, coffee and cakes.

Examples of the Christmas book art can be seen in both Ightham Mote's bookshops.

Please note:

  • Please go to Visitor Reception and you'll be directed to the Squire's Room where the workshop will take place.
  • It can be chilly in the house during the winter months, so bring layers.
  • Access to the house is via a steep slope but there is a mobility vehicle (buggy) service offering shuttle runs to visitors with mobility issues. Accessible parking is available.
  • Age guidance for this activity is 16+.
  • Please bring your own craft knife and arrive 10 mins before the start of the session so that it can start and finish on time.
