A talk about Shackleton's Endurance Expedition at Aberdulais

This talk, by motivational speaker Ian Govier, promises to be interesting, interactive and may even include a ukulele!

The Endurance Expedition (1914-1917) led by Ernest Shackleton is renowned for its incredible tale of survival after the ship became trapped in Antarctic ice, leading to a harrowing but ultimately triumphant journey for the crew.

Ian Govier is a well-practised motivational speaker, experienced researcher and one of Aberdulais' very own volunteer Heritage Tour Guides in his spare time.

Ian uses this famous story of survival to inspire us all. He may also play his ukulele and tell us about penguin meat!

This is a completely free event but we recommend you book a ticket (free of charge) to secure your spot.

Please note:

  • The talk will be in the Old Works Library - now our second-hand bookshop.  This white building is on the left as you enter our Aberdulais site (Neath,  SA10 8EU) via the iron gates.
  • It is a free to enter site.  There is an option for a self-serve tea or coffee (donations welcome). You may wish to bring snacks if you want to enjoy the site after the talk.
  • The book-shop has a ramp to provide access for wheel chairs and the whole site is small with a flat, even path.
