Ranger walk: moorland and lantern wood restoration

Join our ranger team for a guided walk on the moor and discover the fascinating work that has been taking place over the past few months to restore this special landscape.
On this walk, you’ll find out first-hand how historic stone culverts – originally installed in the 1700s to divert moorland streams underground –have been carefully removed allowing streams to flow naturally above ground once more and the benefits to nature.
This walk is about 2 miles long over steep and uneven terrain and will last approximately 2.5 hours. This walk is free, but normal admission applies.
Please note:
- Standard admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- Meet at the kiosk in the car park 10 minutes before the walk is due to start.
- Wear clothing for the outdoors; a warm coat, layers and sensible footwear.
- The walk will be a 2 mile walk and take 2.5 hours over steep and uneven terrain. Please contact the team in advance of booking for more information on if it's suitable for you.
