Star Party at Malham Tarn
Join us at Malham Tarn for a star-studded evening! Expert Martin Lunn will guide you round the night sky, introduce super-stars such as Jupiter and tell tales of the myths and legends of the skies. Aimed at families with children age 7 or over.
On a clear night the big, open skies of the Yorkshire Dales let you see thousands of sparkling stars so Malham Tarn is a great place to join local astronomer Martin Lunn MBE for a star party. If the skies are clear we'll head out for a tour of the night sky and tales from the stars, then we'll warm up with a drink and a snack inside, have more starry stories and maybe a quiz or craft activity. If its cloudy we'll see the stars on screen, and we'll still have lots of starry fun. This event is aimed at families with children aged 7 or over and those who want to learn about the night sky.
A warming drink and a biscuit is included.
Please note:
- Meet at the Orchid House, behind Malham Tarn House, Settle, BD24 9PU.
- Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing, sturdy footwear and wrap up very warm. Bring a torch (no head torches) and binoculars if you have them.
- Please bring your booking confirmation.
- There are steps in the Orchid House up to the meeting space. There is one toilet. Outdoors, the terrain is uneven and due to the timing of the event it will be dark.
- Suitable for children aged 7+ (must be accompanied by an adult).
- Sorry, no dogs.
- Please check your email on the day, before travelling to the event in case we need to cancel due to poor weather or other factors.
