Throughout the generations, the Verney family’s fortunes rose and fell like the phoenix in their emblem. From Mary Blacknall, who saved Claydon from Oliver Cromwell’s hands, to Parthenope, author, historian and sister of Florence Nightingale, this tour uncovers the history of the women in the Verney family who were instrumental in helping Claydon House rise from the ashes time and time again.
The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours. The tour is free but normal admission prices apply. Free for National Trust members.
The tour takes place across multiple floors at Claydon House, so isn't accessible for those in wheelchairs and/or those unable to manage stairs.
