The Art of Birdsong: a guided bird walk and art workshop
Let birdsong spark your creativity on this unique blend of guided nature walk and hands‑on art workshop.
From birdsong to brushstrokes, begin your morning with a guided bird walk led by Michael Turner. Tune into the birds around you, learn to recognise their songs and identify them.
Return to the Stables for an art workshop with Kath Rodger, where you’ll use a variety of materials to create a piece inspired by the sounds you heard.
There are 15 spaces available, all materials are provided, making this a relaxed and creative half‑day experience.
Please note:
- Meet at The Bowes room at Gibside Stables. Please follow the A-frame signs at the Stables for directions.
- Bring a bag to take your art home - it may be raining, and the paint may still be wet. Please also wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes.
- An access bus is available but participants will need to have the ability to complete the walk. Routes follow established paths, though some options may include steeper sections, dirt paths and stiles.
- Designed for adults.
- Please allow adequate time to arrive, make your way through Visitor Reception and walk to Gibside Stables. We recommend 30-40 minutes for a leisurely stroll and early arrival from Visitor Reception. The Stables coffee shop will be open from 11am.
