Spring clean talks

Ever wondered what it takes to care for Kingston Lacy's amazing collection? It's a lot more than a quick flick with a duster.

Join the House and Collections staff as they share some of the secrets to looking after Kingston Lacy's varied collection, ranging from books to textiles to ceramics.

This series of different, half hour talks will explain how much work goes on behind the scenes, and the expertise needed to ensure this beautiful place will be seen and admired in future generations.

Each day will showcase a different aspect of conservation:
Light and historic houses (Mon 13 and Thu 16 Apr),
Care of historic books (Tue 14 and Fri 17 Apr),
Conservation past and present (Wed 15, Sat 18 and Sun 19 Apr).

Booking essential. There's no extra charge for the talks, but normal admission charges apply. National Trust members will need to show their membership cards at Visitor Reception, and non-members will need to pay the admission price (from £23 per adult, £11.50 per child) or join the National Trust.

Morning talks will be held in the Saloon on the first floor. Talks at 2pm will be held in the Wine Cellar Passage, which is accessible for wheelchairs.

Please note:

  • Standard admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • Please meet in The Saloon or the Wine Cellar Passage.
  • Access to the Saloon for talks in the morning is via a staircase. There is level access to Wine Cellar Passage, where 2pm talks will be given.
