Join Andrew and Barbara at Tinkley Gate café for a free, informal workshop exploring the ancient practice of dowsing. Used for centuries to locate water and places of interest, dowsing continues to spark curiosity and debate to this day. Is it a subtle science, an intuitive art, or simply folklore? This session invites you to decide for yourself.
Andrew and Barbara will share the history and principles behind dowsing, demonstrate traditional tools such as rods and pendulums, and explain how people have used them across different cultures and time periods. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in simple, guided exercises and experience dowsing first-hand in a relaxed, friendly setting.
No prior knowledge or belief is required—just an open mind and a willingness to explore. Whether you’re a curious skeptic, a history enthusiast, or someone interested in earth energies and intuition, this workshop offers a chance to learn, question, and experiment. Come along, enjoy the atmosphere of Tinkley Gate café, and make up your own mind: science or fiction?

- Meet at Tinkley Gate Café. The event will start in the conservatory area of the cafe.
The main carpark is less than 200m from the cafe entrance:

GL10 3UH - Some of the workshop will take place outdoors so please wear clothes and shoes suitable for the weather. All other tools will be provided.
- Some of the workshop will take place in the area in front of the cafe and may extend further into the path. Some of the ground may be uneven and the paths steep in places. Tinkley Gate Carpark has accessible parking spaces, blue badge holders park for free.
