Bluebell Walks
Join a free guided walk through the bluebell display in the Great Wood.
Starting at Woodgate car park, this gentle paced guided walk will head up an incline into the Great Wood, with one of Norfolk’s most impressive carpets of native bluebells.
You'll be accompanied by a ranger, who will explain the woodland management involved in looking after this impressive display to ensure these delicate flowers return year after year.
There will be a chance to stop and ask questions, before heading off towards the iconic pyramid-shaped Mausoleum. From here the route will loop back to the bluebells and will finish in Woodgate car park.
The walk will cover around two miles (3km) on well-maintained paths, with some inclines. It will take approximately one and a half hours.
This is a free event, but please note that £5 parking charges apply for non‑National Trust members. Parking should be paid for using the JustPark app or by calling 07520 634455 and quoting location code: 998925. We would recommend that you make your payment in advance on the day of your visit, as mobile reception at Woodgate is limited. Members, please register your visit via the JustPark app.
Please note:-
- Standard admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- Please meet at Woodgate carpark and follow what3words: outlined.exact.lectured
- Please wear sensible footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. There are no water filling stations on the route, so please bring bottled water with you.
- The walk takes place on a mixture of well maintained paths and some uneven ground with inclines along the route. The walk will be at a slow pace.
- This is suitable for children over 14 and accompanied by an adult.
- There are no toilets at Woodgate car park, or along the route. The nearest toilets are situated in the main car park at Blickling Estate, a seven minute drive away. Muddy Boots café is also situated at the main car park.
- Dogs are permitted on a short lead at all times.
