Stepping into Parkinson’s and nature: walking programme

Developed alongside our Parkinson’s running programme this walking group will help those living with Parkinson's become more active or maintain an active lifestyle and get out in nature at Kingston Lacy.

Physical activity is one of the most important things you can do to live well with Parkinson's. Regular activity can help manage symptoms, improve balance and mobility, build confidence and support overall wellbeing. This walking programme will provide weekly, approximately 45 minutes, walks around Kingston Lacy with a focus on raising the heart rate whilst connecting to the nature around you. Our experienced walks leader volunteers will take you on a 12-week programme of walks, each week building the pace slightly.

You will be joined and supported by a friendly, sociable group of walkers and will have the opportunity to join up with those taking part in the Parkinson’s running and Nordic Walking in the café after each session.

Through the programme we can also offer advice on how walking can enable you to keep active whilst living with Parkinson's and you will receive ideas and guidance to help you stay active between sessions.

Programme commences on Monday 7 September 2026 at 2pm and will run for 12 weeks. For the walking session you can join at any point during the 12-week programme, and for as many sessions as you like.

Looking for something more vigorous? Take a look at our Stepping into Parkinson’s and nature: Couch to 5K running programme or Dorset Council’s Nordic Walking for Parkinson’s. These take place alongside the walking group, and you get to be part of the same sociable group.
