Bionic and the Wires: Beneath the Breathing Ground

A dance and musical performance soundtracked by music made by plants.

What if the plants beneath your garden could sing?

In Beneath the Breathing Ground, four characters tumble into an underground world of roots, soil and fungi. Guided by Rowan the Listener, Ivy the Connector, Birke the Spark and Ashlynn the Rememberer, they must help the Rhizome reconnect before it collapses.

With live music created from the electrical signals of real plants - performed by Bionic and the Wires - each character’s dance is shaped by the species they represent. A magical, movement‑filled adventure celebrating the hidden networks that keep our world alive.

Bionic and the Wires are a Manchester-based collective that creates electronic music with plants. Their compositions combine botanical rhythms with atmospheric textures and soundscapes created by synthesizers. The music explores the interplay between plants and music and encourages new ways of thinking about the natural world.
