Past, present and future: an evening with the Head Gardener
On this after hours evening in the garden, experience Coleton Fishacre through the years with an exclusive tour from the Head Gardener.
From the creation of the garden in the 1920s, to it's evolution in the present day under the care of the National Trust, follow the history of Coleton Fishacre's garden over the last 100 years.
The Head Gardener will share the original vision of the D’Oyly Carte family and the distinctive Arts and Crafts influences that shaped it's early layout and planting, our approach to sustainable management, and the challenges we face and opportunities ahead as we plan for the long‑term resilience of the garden.
Blending history, horticulture, and forward‑thinking stewardship, this special evening tour is a glimpse into the deeper understanding of how the garden has been shaped, and how we’re working to ensure it thrives for the next 100 years.
Finishing the tour in true Jazz Age style, there'll be light refreshments and Coleton's signature cocktail on the loggia by the house.
Please note:
- Please meet at Visitor Reception.
- The evening event takes place outdoors, so please wear weather appropriate clothing and suitable footwear for a garden tour.
- The tour will take place on undulating gravel paths, with steep areas and steps in places.
- Not suitable for children.
