Pressed in Time: Create Your Own Herbarium Sheet
Inspired by Calke's historic herbarium, uncover a lesser-known part of the collection and create your own pressed plant and flower sheet to take home.
Discover a fascinating and little-seen part of Calke Abbey’s natural history collection in this thoughtful two-hour evening session inspired by the historic herbarium.
You’ll have the opportunity to discover part of the collection and learn more about the plants, records and stories it holds, as this important aspect of Calke’s collection begins to be shared more openly with the public.
Taking inspiration from the herbarium itself, you’ll then create your own herbarium sheets, exploring the beauty of plant preservation, observation and botanical storytelling, and beginning your own Herbarium journey.
Blending creativity, curiosity and a closer look at Calke’s natural heritage, this session offers a rare chance to engage with the past while making something of your own to take away.
