Archaeology family walk

A moderate 1.7-mile walk aimed at young people to inspire and discover the history of the Longshaw, through the archaeological evidence of its past users including travellers, farmers and soldiers of WW1 and Victorian visitors.

Walk in the footsteps of a host of historic characters on this moderate circular walk. Along the route, our knowledgeable walk leader will explore hidden archaeological features and our volunteers will engage you in activities as you go.

This moderate walk follows an mostly even footpath with a few mild ascents and some rough and boggy parts to the pathway. Well behaved Dogs on leads are welcome.

  • Meet at Longshaw Welcome Building, in Woodcroft car park.
  • Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. Bring a snack and plenty of water.
