Solar eclipse viewing with DASH Astro
Join DASH Astro at Dunwich Heath for a rare chance to see the solar eclipse!
See the solar eclipse over Dunwich Heath on Wednesday 12 August.
A solar eclipse is a semi-rare event when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, blocking some or all of the sun’s light.
Viewing will start from 5.45pm, with 90% of the sun obscured by around 7.15pm. Visitors will get the chance to see the spectacle happen and learn more about our home star and how a solar eclipse happens.
Refreshments will be available to buy from the Coastguard Cottages Tea-room.
Suitable for all ages. This event is free but booking is required to help manage numbers.
Please be aware that this event is weather dependent, and if there is thick cloud cover or rain then the event won’t go ahead.

Please note:
- Meet at Heath Barn.
- This is an outdoor event, so please dress suitably for the weather.
- The viewing location is on flat grass but accessed over mixed terrain. A tramper is available to pre-book, please call the Dunwich office for more information and to book.
- Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
