Meet the artist - Lizzie Bentley
Meet local artist Lizzie Bentley and view her exhibition 'On Light and Flowers'.
Lizzie is an oil painter from Stratford-upon-Avon who paints from life, either plein air or flowers in her studio.
"I paint flowers with the seasons and check what’s growing locally. I am constantly checking whether the day will be sunny or cloudy. Each painting is dependent on the light conditions. I never make anything up. I have to paint what’s in front of me. There is nothing more beautiful than real life”.
Born in Birmingham 1971, Lizzie completed her Fine Art degree at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art (Oxford University). Lizzie went on to attend Heatherley's school of Art, the Royal Drawing School and Studio Practice with Jason Bowyer NEAC.
Lizzie has worked in Film and TV for 25 years as a Concept Artist and Matte Painter and now focuses on Oil Painting and also printmaking in Stratford-upon-Avon where she has a studio. Lizzie still occasionally accepts digital matte painting and concept painting work. She teaches drawing and painting at Upton House and Gardens.
Lizzie’s exhibition will include paintings inspired by Upton’s gardens, in particular her favourite Peonies growing in the Lupin border along with other studies of Upton’s herbaceous summer borders. Her work is available for sale.
This is an opportunity to meet Lizzie Bentley and experience her exhibition 'On Light and Flowers' in these special times reserved just for you. Entry is free as part of normal admission to Upton House and Gardens.
