Drop spindle workshop at Aberdulais Falls

Are you interested in learning a 10,000-year-old craft? Would you like to be able to spin your own yarn? This drop spindle workshop might be for you!

On Saturday 25 July, during our craft day picnic Malachant Designs are running a completely free yarn spinning workshop from 10.30am-1.30pm. So if you're a fibre enthusiast or looking to learn a new skill or find a moment of mindfulness during the summer holidays. It also might be nice for a moment of intergenerational bonding as the workshop is designed for anyone from 10 years and up.

During the workshop you’ll learn to spin your own yarn using a drop spindle, all the materials you need will be provided and you can either use wool or acrylic fibre to make your yarn. The workshop is very relaxed; you don’t need any prior knowledge of spinning or other fibre arts.

This workshop is taking place as part of our summer Saturday picnic series, 25 July is craft day so the site will have people enjoying their picnics and partaking in other crafts too. Find more information about the summer Saturday picnic series on the events section of the Aberdulais website.
