Bird Watching Walks
Everyone starts somewhere. Join a National Trust Ranger for a relaxed beginner birdwatch and discover the stories behind some familiar birds that are often overlooked. No experience or expertise necessary, just eagerness.
Ever looked at a bird, known what it was called, but never really known much about it? Join a National Trust Ranger for a relaxed beginner birdwatch designed for people completely new to birdwatching.
This session will focus on a handful of carefully chosen common birds, giving you the chance to slow down, look a little closer and discover the stories behind the wildlife you see every day. It’s all about learning how to notice.
Together we’ll explore different habitats, learn simple techniques for using binoculars and spotting scopes, watch behaviour, listen to birdsong and build the confidence to head out on your own. Along the way you’ll meet like-minded people, spend time away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with nature at a gentler pace.

Please note:
- You will be emailed the meeting place closer to the date.
- Dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. We have some binoculars for everyone to use but please bring your own if you wish. Don't forget your water bottle and any refreshments you'd like.
- This tour is not suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs or mobility scooters due to the uneven terrain.
- Accompanied children welcome.
