Ebworth - Hedgehog Camera Monitoring Set Up Event
Join the Stroud Landscape Project and People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) in this event to set up wildlife cameras, launching a study to observe hedgehog behaviour at Ebworth. This is a beginner level conservation volunteer opportunity.
This event is at The Ebworth Centre (GL6 7ES), not at Crickley Hill.
The Stroud Landscape Project is pleased to be supporting PTES (People's Trust for Endagered Species) as part of their National Hedgehog Monitoring Programme.
As part of this important conservation work, we'll be installing 30 wildlife cameras and mammal tunnels at Ebworth to monitor potential hedgehog activity and collect valuable data that will contribute to a wider understanding of hedgehog populations across the country.
We're looking for volunteers to support the installation process, which will include; carrying equipment to survey locations, installing and callibrating cameras, changing batteries where required, ensuring mammal tunnels are correctly positioned and installed and ready for the monitoring period.
The cameras will remain in place for 30 days before being removed and the data collected. The information gathered will help improve our understanding of hedgehog presence and activity within the landscape and inform future conservation action.
Please be prepared for a full day outdoors, involving walking across farmland and uneven terrain, and come dressed appropriately for the weather and conditions.

- Meet at The Ebworth Centre, The Camp, Stroud Gloucestershire, GL6 7ES
Park in the visitor car park and gather near to the visitor centre toilets at ///glides.general.leathers - Bring water, packed lunch and snacks, sturdy footwear and suitable clothing. Work gloves, sun protection and insect repellent are recommended.
- The event involves walking across uneven terrain and may include slopes, rough ground and areas without surfaced paths. Participants should be comfortable walking moderate distances outdoors. Please contact us in advance to discuss any access requirements.
- Suitable for participants aged 18 and over.
- This is a practical volunteer conservation activity. No previous experience is required, and guidance will be provided throughout the day. Please note that toilet, food and water facilities may not be readily accessible during the activity. Participants should come prepared for a full day on site.
