Poetry workshop: A Box of Wonders
Join us for a magical National Poetry Day workshop with Small Birds Press and take home your own personal box full of tiny poetic delights.
Forage in the Walled Garden at Newark Park to collect your impressions of the plants and flowers, birds and insects in autumn.
Then come inside to the top floor event room, with its stunning views over the grounds, and discover how to make these into poetry you can hold in your hand.
During the workshop, you will:
- Explore a variety of techniques and prompts for writing tiny, short-form poems
- Be guided and supported in honing your poetry to gain confidence and skills
- Learn simple paper-folding and scrolling methods.
You will leave with your own personalised box of poetic objects that you have created and assembled.
Suitable for both beginners and those wishing to experiment with fresh approaches. The workshop aims to make poetry accessible and beautiful.
The poetry workshop is run by Caroline and May from Bath-based handmade publisher Small Birds Press.
All materials are provided in the workshop.
