Tyntesfield estate is the inspiration and setting for the recently published and highly acclaimed novel The Infamous Gilberts by Angela Tomaski. It features in The Guardian’s list of best books for this summer’s reading and is described as ‘An irresistible old-fashioned comfort read...with romantic misadventures, dastardly characters, lost boys and lashings of atmosphere.’ 

Join Angela as she reads excerpts of her novel; shares insight into its creation and answers your questions. She is happy to sign your copy of the book.

Please note:

  • Standard admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • The Tyntesfield Sawmill. Allow 15 minutes to walk from the car park to the Sawmill, via the Welcome Building. There will be book signing available before and after the Q&A session.
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather. Layers and sturdy shoes are advisable.
  • The Sawmill is approx. 15 minute walk from the Welcome Building and includes two steep slopes. A mobility shuttle is available is required; please arrive at least 30 minutes before the event start time if you intend to use the shuttle.
  • Not suitable for children.
  • Assistance Dogs only are very welcome.
