Join our House and Collections team on a special behind the scenes tour to uncover some of Speke’s fascinating hidden history. Over the centuries many deliberate markings were carved into the Hall’s timber frame, which are known as apotropaic marks. It is thought these protective symbols would ward off evil, keeping the household safe. Delve into this rich history and unravel the secrets waiting to be discovered.

Please note: 

• Meet at the Visitor Reception Building and you will be guided to the site of the tour at the front of the House.
• Please be aware that there is a moderate distance walk from the Visitor Reception Building to the site of the tour at Speke Hall.
• The second floor of the house is currently not accessible for wheelchairs, if you have any access requirements, please let us know in advance and we will ensure to accommodate your visit as much as possible.
