“Be A Ranger Day” Series Day 2- Seed Orchard at Nugent’s Wood
Could you be a Ranger for a day? Are you passionate about the environment? Worried about the climate crisis? Would you like to help protect your local area?
The National Trust Rangers at Strangford Lough would love to meet you.
Join our winter Be a Ranger series to share what you value about your local landscape, discover how we care for nature around the Lough and Ards Peninsula, and take part in practical conservation work.
Across four themed events, explore how trees can support wildlife, improve soil, benefit farming and help landscapes respond to climate change.
Discover how Rangers are helping Nugent’s Wood become healthier and more resilient.
This Ranger-led event will explore the history and wildlife of the woodland, the challenges caused by invasive non-native plants and the importance of woodland edges. Participants will learn how selected native trees and shrubs could provide seeds for future conservation planting across Northern Ireland.
The morning will conclude with a supervised tree-planting session.
No previous conservation experience is required.
