“Be A Ranger Day” Series Day 4- Coastal Species at Ballyquintin

Could you be a Ranger for a day? Are you passionate about the environment? Worried about the climate crisis? Would you like to help protect your local area?

The National Trust Rangers at Strangford Lough would love to meet you.

Join our winter Be a Ranger series to share what you value about your local landscape, discover how we care for nature around the Lough and Ards Peninsula, and take part in practical conservation work.

Across four themed events, explore how trees can support wildlife, improve soil, benefit farming and help landscapes respond to climate change.

Explore how farming and nature conservation work together at Ballyquintin.

Join the Ranger Team for a guided walk through this nature-friendly farm and discover how crop rotations, grassland, field margins, hedgerows and trees support wildlife.

You will learn why coastal conditions influence the trees Rangers select and how native trees and shrubs can help create a more resilient landscape.

Participants will then have the opportunity to help plant appropriate coastal trees or shrubs
